Pourquoi cette pétition est importante
En France, il est possible de valoriser au baccalauréat certaines langues parlées en famille : à cet examen les élèves qui maitrisent une de ces langues peuvent obtenir des points de bonus. L’Éducation Nationale signale ainsi qu’elle reconnaît leurs compétences plurilingues. Actuellement, le tibétain ne fait pas partie de ces langues alors que, chaque semaine, des centaines d’enfants tibétains en France suivent des cours organisés en ligne ou par des associations tibétaines.
Nous demandons au gouvernement français que le tibétain figure parmi les langues optionnelles au bac, afin de soutenir en France la transmission de la langue tibétaine et de son patrimoine pluriséculaire, menacée au Tibet.

In France, certain languages spoken in the family can be evaluated at the “baccalauréat” (12th grade) exam and students who master one of these languages can get bonus points. In this way, the French Ministry of Education recognises their multilingual skills. Currently, Tibetan language does not feature among these languages, despite the fact that every week hundreds of Tibetan children in France attend classes organised online or by Tibetan associations.
We are asking the French government to include Tibetan as an optional language in the “baccalauréat”, in order to support in France the transmission of the Tibetan language and its centuries-old heritage, which is under threat in Tibet.
